Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since spring of that year.

Victory also signifies he has won twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was over.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to force a final set.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a tight third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
